Coachella

I always look forward to Coachella...firstly because it makes me get excited about the slowly approaching summer, I can almost smell the long hazy days and secondly I love to have a nosey at the fashion - it gives me a heads up on the festival dos and dont's. I assumed that Lana Del Rey's classic Holywood 1960's style would have influenced things this year, but there's something about festivals that brings out peoples inner hippy.
Here are my favourites...

Craft Fail

Last night Kirsty came over so we could get cracking on our monthly blog challenge. I pictured us painting our nails in pretty pastel colours, trying out various nail art technics and dressing up in our take on the pastel trend, whilst taking pictures skipping through grassy fields with lambs, butterflies and litle fluffy clouds. This did NOT happen. We failed to purchase a nail art pen so thought we'd improvise with a sharpie...the so called 'bird' I attempted looked more like it belonged to a Halloween inspired theme. We then proceeded to drink lots of red wine, gossip and paint our nails in every pastel colour under the sun.

At 12 o'clock when we realised Kirstys lift was coming we slapped on an array of pastel coloured eyeshadows, that clearly belonged in the 80's and took some awful shots of us with the oven in the background (because it was too dark outside)...I even got on my bike in the attempt to look arty - I was inside!
So in the spirit of our failed evening I feel this blog is very apt and it made me feel better! Check out their blog Craft Fail

Here are a few of the best bits!

Balayage Highlights

Pondering what I should do with my hair again, I want to get some more natural highlights through it in prepartation for my wedding. I've already tried out the Ombre technique, which I loved for more of a dramatic look. My beauty guru mate, Kirsty, suggested I check out Balayage Highlights. So for those of you that are in dark (like I was) Balayage is a hair coloring technique which is designed to create that natural grown out sun kissed highlights, without the noticeable roots. Instead of using foils, the highlights are painted on by hand. At the base, the color is applied very lightly, while at the tip, the color is very heavy.

Natural sunkissed locks with less regrowth...I'm in!

Going to the chapel...

Very excited...we've finally finished our Save the Dates - with a little help from our friends. My bestie, Susi, drew  the cartoon characters of Vas and I...I had to add his chest hair! I drew the clothes and coloured them up on Photoshop (nice to find a use for my course!) and Tim, Vas' mate made it appear online in a drag and drop format - I LOVE IT.

Fishtail Plait

I've always wanted to learn how to do a fishtail Plait - now my hair is looooong I've going to give this a try...
1. Part your hair into two even sections. 2. Take a small strand of hair - it's best to take it from underneath so it wraps around the entire section - from one section and bring it over to the other side. Ensure your strands of hair aren't too large - or it will end up looking like a regular plait. 3. Repeat with the other section. 4. Continue with steps 3 & 3 until the plait is finished. 5. If you want a messier, fatter plait - lightly ruffle edges...hey presto!

B Squad Night

I had my first of many bridesmaids nights. Wanted to make it a little bit special so enlisted the help of my chiefy Kirsty to help me perform another potential craft fail! I’d been on Pinterest to get a little bit of inspiration and came across this lovely balloon idea from http://lovelygreenlifestyle.blogspot.co.uk

http://lovelygreenlifestyle.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/best-30th-birthday-gift-for-best.html?m=1

Kirsty and I made up some cupcakes, spent the whole night watching them explode all over the oven and then trying to ice them, scraping off the icing, having another go…scraping it off, watching a ‘How to ice’ video, retyring, scraping it off again and finally settling on using a spatula to pile it on! We found that by sticking a berry and a little flag on top seemed to help no end!

My gorgeous bridesmaids paid for me to have my makeup done… I’m gutted that there were no photos taken from the night or of my makeup – will definitely take more at the next one.

NINE INCH NAILS

I spend far too much time browsing through pages and pages of nail art. I've got sooo many pots of different colours and really think it's about time that I put my creativity to use, once I get myself one of these Models Own Nail Art Pen there's going to be no stopping me.
